WOODLANDS AAA KINGS BASEBAL BLACK TEAM HAS WON THE USSSA WORLD SERIES

The 7U AAA Kings Baseball Black team from The Woodlands won the USSSA World Series in Gulf Shores, Alabama last Saturday.  The 16 team, double elimination event consisted of six of the Top 15 teams in the country and was represented by 6 states across the Southeastern United States.  The Kings got off to a strong start by winning 16-4 and 13-0 in their two pool play games and landed a #1 seed.  They proceeded to win their next three games to stay in the winners bracket and advanced to the semi-finals.  In the semi-final game, there were only two teams left in the winner’s bracket, The West Cobb Bombers from Marietta, GA and The Kings.  The West Cobb Bombers were ranked #2 in the country going into the tournament and won the World Series in 2015.  The semifinal game turned out to be everything that was anticipated.  Both teams played excellent defense and neither team was willing to give up.  The Kings hitting came to life in the semi-final game with a team batting average of .514 vs a West Cobb average of .343.  In the end, the Kings were able to pull out the victory in the bottom of the last inning to win the game 11 – 10.  

The Kings win sent West Cobb to the losers bracket and moved the Kings into the Championship game. The Bombers won their game in the losers bracket and were forced to face the Kings again.  In the second matchup, the Bombers capitalized and won the second game 5 –1.  This set the stage for one final game to decide the championship.  It was another strong defensive battle and the Kings were down by a score of 6-3 going into the bottom of the 5^th inning. In the bottom of the 5^th, with timely hitting and clutch base running, the Kings exploded for 4 runs to take a 7-6 lead going into the final inning. The King’s defense was strong and was able to hold off the Bombers to clinch the USSSA 7U AAA World Series.  

The 7U AAA Kings Baseball Black team finished the season ranked #1 in the state of Texas in both Nations and USSSA rankings and #1 in the country in Nations and #3 in the country in USSSA.  Congratulations Kings!
