WOODLANDS MALL SCARE OVER-ALL CLEAR GIVEN BY MCSO

The scare at The Woodlands Mall Saturday, over a “suspicious package”, turned out to be nothing more than a backpack with someone’s personal items inside, according to Lt. Scott Spencer of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.  MCSO responded around 10:15 a.m. and evacuated two stores after someone reported a suspicious package to mall security. The Montgomery County Fire Marshal’s Office and Houston Police Department also responded.

Security video revealed a male left the backpack by a rear door in the mall. Investigators with the Fire Marshal’s Office checked the backpack and found nothing dangerous inside, Spencer said. It’s unclear why the backpack was left there. Activity at the mall has returned to normal.
