MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX- A plumbing failure caused significant flooding on the bottom floor of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office main Criminal Justice Complex and part of the jail visitation area, but the agency reports that operations have continued without interruption. In a statement, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office said the incident highlighted ongoing infrastructure challenges associated with the aging facility. Despite the damage and disruption, the agency’s administration remained fully operational without missing a day. Many employees have been displaced from their regular offices and are working from available storage rooms and mobile command trucks parked on-site while crews work to restore the affected areas. The sheriff’s office reported that power has been completely restored, the jail remains fully operational and the affected area of the jail has been cleared.
The agency thanked its information technology staff, building maintenance teams, employees, Office of Emergency Management personnel and other work crews for helping maintain operations and address the damage.
“Despite the damage and disruption, MCSO administration remained 100% operational without missing a single day,” the agency said. “Their workspaces have changed — their commitment to serving Montgomery County has not.”
The sheriff’s office emphasized that employees remain focused on serving residents while recovery efforts continue.
“The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office does not close when challenges arise,” the agency said. “We keep serving, and we will come through this stronger.”
Officials did not provide an estimate of the damage or a timeline for completing repairs.
