MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX- Conroe ISD students will see slightly longer school days beginning Tuesday, Oct. 13, as the district adjusts schedules to make up instructional time lost to Tropical Storm Edouard and preserve a makeup option for any future weather closures.
High school days will start three minutes earlier and end two minutes later. Elementary, intermediate, and junior high days will begin five minutes earlier. The district is also adding minutes to half days across grade levels. Bus pickup times and campus arrival windows will stay the same.
The change follows the district’s closure on Sept. 2 due to Tropical Storm Edouard. Instead of using the calendar’s March 29 makeup day or adding days after the scheduled end of the school year, Conroe ISD chose to lengthen regular days. That approach covers the missed day while banking time in case another weather-related closure is needed later.
A survey of teachers found that about 68.7% preferred adding minutes over losing a four-day weekend or extending the school year. In a statement to families, the district said, “We hope we will not need the additional banked day, but this adjustment gives us more flexibility to respond to weather while protecting instructional time.”
The updated schedule will remain in place through the rest of the 2026-27 school year. Families can find campus-specific times and further details on official Conroe ISD and school communication channels.
