CHASE ENDS ALMOST WHERE IT STARTED

063011 cpd chase hickmanugApproximately 12:45 a.m. Thursday morning Conroe Police attempted to stop a  suspicious Isuzu Rodeo on Interstate 45 near the Lodge Suites. The vehicle sped away southbound to Gladstell then south on Sgt. Ed Holcomb to the South Loop. There the chase continued to I-45 and went south. As they approached FM 1488 Montgomery County was advised as two units with Conroe continued south at speeds up to 100 mph Montgomery County joined in the chase.

As they approached Rayford Road the driver John Hickman, who after running the license number was thought to be from Willis he exited. Within minutes he re-entered the freeway heading south. Harris County units were notified of his approach to the county line.

The chase continued toward Conroe now at speeds up to 120 mph. As Conroe Officers set spike strips up at the South Loop and was successful in hitting one of his tires.

The vehicle slowed until he reached Gladstell where he was removed from the vehicle.

MCHD transported John Barton Hickman, 31  to Conroe Regional Hospital for minor injuries. He was then released to Conroe Police for the trip to the Montgomery County Jail.

He is currently being held on a $25,000 bond for felony evading arrest with a vehicle.

It is still unknown his reason for fleeing as he had no open warrants on him and the vehicle was registered to him. His address is listed at 800 Bellshire in Conroe.
