The Conroe Police Department Office of Professional Conduct received information in late February 2011 regarding inconsistencies involving the paperwork, purchase, and transfers of weapons for the personal use of officers. The Conroe Police Department along with members of the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), are conducting joint investigations regarding the information.
The investigations have currently identified four Conroe Police Department officers who allegedly were involved in the paperwork, purchases, and transfers of the weapons. Due to restrictions involving internal investigations, personnel matters, and the ongoing investigations, the officers’ names have not been released. The weapons in question have been identified or have been recovered during the course of the investigations.
