545AM-An eight-vehicle fatal crash at 2 am Saturday morning has I-45 northbound completely closed at FM 830 between Conroe and Willis. In addition, two left lanes in the southbound side remain closed. About 2 am a vehicle veered off the northbound lanes just north of the Conroe City Limits. That vehicle struck the guardrail tearing it completely down. The heavily damaged vehicle then came to stop in the left lane of the freeway. The male and female occupants exited the vehicle and were standing on the inside shoulder when a Nissan Rouge struck their vehicle. Another Nissan was struck by the Rouge as it went out of control to the right shoulder. As that happened a Lexus which was northbound came upon the crash in the left lane and took evasive action to the shoulder striking and killing the female passenger of the Nissan Rouge that had initially struck the guardrail. Then another vehicle struck those vehicles causing damage to the side of his vehicle and tearing off a rear bumper. A Toyota Tundra then struck debris puncturing his radiator. Another vehicle then also struck debris ripping a passenger tire. An 18-wheeler also hit debris puncturing a fuel tank. DPS has started clearing the scene however with all lanes covered in oil a HAZMAT team responded and is working to clean it. Expect the northbound lanes to be closed until mid-morning.
