Just after 1:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon a woman was leaving the Porter Walmart when she was carjacked. According to officials she had walked to her car and was putting her groceries in when a white male walked up to her. As she finished and put her basket in the rack she got into her vehicle. At this point, the male walked to her open door and told her something was wrong with her trunk. As she exited the vehicle he got in the driver’s seat of the 2007 Saturn and slammed into another vehicle, he then put it in reverse with her hanging on and hit another vehicle. The suspect then backed out of the parking lot at a high rate of speed.
Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office was alerted and put out an attempt to locate on the vehicle. Due to a language barrier, it was first thought to have been a Hispanic male suspect. However, when units arrived they determined it was a white male with shoulder-length hair and tattoos.
Approximately thirty-minutes later Stacy Rawls, an employee at Quality Used Cars on FM 1485 was reading the alert put out on Montgomery County Police Reporter for the stolen vehicle. It was at that time a man came in asking $3500 for his Saturn that he said his girlfriend had wrecked a few weeks back. He was told that they were not interested. Rawl’s said the man who had been a customer years ago was acting strangely. As he left she realized he was the one she was reading about on Montgomery County Police Reporter Facebook Page. She then called Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and stated the suspect just came into his business and attempted to sell him the car. Deputies moved units in that direction and approximately ten minutes later the vehicle again passed the car lot. Rawl’s attempted to follow it and call the Sheriff’s Office but then realized a unit had already spotted him and initiated a pursuit.
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department patrol unit that spotted the suspect in the stolen vehicle at FM 1485 and 59 attempted to stop him the suspect fled. The chase continued to Northpark on the feeder where the suspect ran a red light and struck a Ford F250 pickup. In that truck was a young boy who suffered a severe head laceration and the driver of the truck. They were transported to Hermann Hospital in The Woodlands.
The female who was carjacked refused medical attention. The driver of the stolen vehicle was taken to Kingwood Hospital where he will be evaluated and released to deputies for a trip to Sheriff Tommy Gage’s Bed and Breakfast.
