woman severely burned in overnight house fire

Just after midnight, Caney Creek Fire Department received a call for a house fire in the 10400 block of White Rock Road near Crockett Martin. On arrival, they found a mobile home totally involved. The 44-year-old resident, identified as Donna Barton, was lying on the ground severely burned. MCHD began treating her and called for PHI Air Medical.

The woman with second and third-degree burns over 70% of her body was flown to UTMB Burn Center in Galveston. Caney Creek was assisted by Cut and Shoot, North Montgomery County, and Splendora Fire Departments.

A Caney Creek firefighter was overcome by heat and was transported to Conroe Regional Medical Center in stable condition.

Joe Manz with the Montgomery County Fire Marshals Office said the cause is still under investigation. Neighbors said when they saw the fire the woman was attempting to save her grandchildren’s photos and exited the mobile home with her head and clothes on fire.
