ARREST MADE AT NEW CANEY WALMART FOR DISORDERLY CONDUCT AFTER MALE DISPLAYS WEAPONS TO GET PUBLIC REACTION

Thursday evening Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office received multiple calls stating 3-males were walking around the Walmart in New Caney with an AR-15 and a pistol. The one carrying the guns was dressed in fatigues. Units arrived and made contact with Matthew Woodrow, 18, from New Caney. During the investigation, the male stated he brought his airsoft rifle ( a simulated AR-style rifle with no orange tip indicating it was not a real firearm) and his BB pistol to the Walmart as he was trying to get peoples reactions to him walking around the parking lot and store while carrying a rifle and a handgun. The conduct of the male in conjunction with the recent mass shootings, specifically at locations such as this, caused alarm to the citizens shopping at the time and resulted in several persons fleeing the store. As a result of the investigation along with consultation with the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office. Woodrow was arrested for Class C Disorderly Conduct and transported to the Montgomery County Jail where he was booked and medically screened.
