Plane Makes Emergency Landing on Street

CONROE — A 22-year-old female flying a civil air patrol Cessna 172 was on approach to Lone Star Executive Airport in Conroe when she lost power about six miles out. She was hoping to glide into the airport, but was unable to reach it, instead using East Davis Street as a runway.

The plane went under a traffic light but clipped a utility pole, ripping off the plane’s right wing. As of 10:20 p.m., the plane is leaking fuel and a hazmat crew is on-scene.

The pilot is uninjured.
