In the early morning hours of May 18, 2001, deputies with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence in the Grogan’s Landing Apartments at 12000 Sawmill Road in South Montgomery County about a prowler.
Deputies received a call to respond the apartment of a 23 year old female who woke to find a man standing over her as she slept on the couch. The victim told deputies that after waking and seeing the suspect in her apartment she screamed and the suspect ran out of the front door. The victim watched as she waited for deputies to arrive and saw the suspect walking past her apartment.
Sheriff’s Office Corporal Wayne Rawley found the suspect and arrested him behind the apartment complex. The suspect lives in the same apartment complex.
The victim was not injured and did not know the suspect.
The suspect has been identified as Kerence Claiborn Carson, age 26, of 12000 Sawmill in Spring. He remains in the Montgomery County Jail charged with Burglary of a habitation other intended felony. No bond has been set yet in the 221st District Court.
