Sunday afternoon Cleveland Fire and Plum Grove Fire were dispatched to a reported crash and fire on County Road 337 off FM 1010 in Liberty County. Units arrived with a vehicle on its side behind a fence fully involved in a fire. The adjoining woods were on fire as well as the utility pole. The 17-year-old driver and his 15-year-old passenger escaped without injury. Firefighters were able to contain the blaze and stop it the spread deeper into the woods. DPS investigated the crash. According to witnesses, the teen wasn’t going very fast when the vehicle started to fishtail and ran off the road, and crashed. Saddle Creek Towing removed the vehicle from the scene.
