crash sends truck over bridge railing

Just before 7 p.m. Saturday evening, as a driver was northbound on the I-69 feeder just north of Townsend Road, a Toyota Tacoma pickup passed him and lost control. After striking the Chevrolet, the Toyota truck began to spin. It then hit the concrete wall of the bridge over the San Jacinto River and flipped over the side falling nearly 18 feet below. The driver of the truck suffered minor injuries and was transported to the hospital. His father, who was riding with him to go look for a new vehicle for his son, suffered a small cut to the head but did not require medical attention.

The driver of the Chevrolet was uninjured.

The truck landed near a drainage canal. If the vehicle had gone over just 200 feet to the north, the truck would have landed in the San Jacinto River.
