Fire Alert: It’s ANOTHER USFS Controlled Burn! DO NOT REPORT THIS FIRE!!!

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX- Today, (Wednesday, April 24) the US Forest Service will conduct a controlled burn in the Sam Houston National Forest in Montgomery County, beginning at 12 p.m. and estimated to end around 5 p.m.

Smoke may be visible or even heavy in areas that are not in any danger. The US Forest Service will be on location, intentionally burning and will not let it get out of control and spread to private property.

The operation targets 148 acres, around FM 1375 and FS 237: Osborne Road (south side of FM 1375), Compartment #30 NW. The wind is expected to be out of the south, making smoke visible in the area of FM 1375.

People with good intentions often see heavy smoke and report these fires, clogging up the 911 system and sometimes wasting the time and gas of fire departments and taking them from their posts where they may be needed for a legitimate emergency.
