FIRE DANGER WARNING

A cold front will move through SE Texas Monday morning with a dry air mass behind it and gusty NW winds. While there are no drought conditions, recent rainfall deficits have left vegetation dry. To refresh your memory – a Fire Weather Watch or Red Flag Warning are issued for critical fire weather conditions – winds 15-20mph or more and Relative Humidity less than 25%. We are forecasting NW winds of 15-20mph and gusts near 25mph. Relative humidity may drop to 18-25% in the afternoon. These conditions could lead to rapid fire growth in wild fires.

The last time we issued a fire weather watch was May 3-4, 2014. The last time we issued a Red Flag Warning was January 21, 2014.
