INTOXICATED MALE FIRES AT VEHICLE STRIKING DRIVERS DOOR

On Saturday, March 19, 2016, the San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call regarding a male shooting at a female in the 100 block of C. Bullock Lane near the south county line off of US 59. Upon their arrival, deputies met with the complainant and learned that she had been at the location since the previous day. She stated the male, her ex- boyfriend, had become intoxicated and angry with her and held her at the home all night against her will. She stated the suspect aimed a rifle at her and threatened her life. She stated she was able to hide in the house all night long, and into the afternoon on Saturday. She stated she found an opportunity to flee and she ran outside and got into her car. As she was driving away, the male stepped onto the porch and fired 3 rounds at her from a .45 handgun, striking her car in the driver’s door. Once she got out of sight, she stopped and called the Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies discovered that the male had retreated back into the house and refused to respond. The San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Tactical Unit was called to the scene and was able to make contact with the suspect and cause him to surrender. He was taken into custody without further incident. The suspect was identified as David I. Howie W/M 56 of the 100 block of C. Bullock Lane, Shepherd TX. He is charged with Aggravated Assault with Deadly Weapon and Deadly Conduct Discharge Firearm, and is held in the San Jacinto County Jail on $50,000 total bonds.
