Let your Faith answer that door

By Wayne Mack

Every day we wake up and listen to the world shouting its troubles at us clearly. We open our laptops, our front doors, and turn on whatever news outlet we use, you can see and feel the weight of tragedy and evil. How could anyone not be afraid? Jesus told his disciples just before His crucifixion. “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid”. John 14:27 He knew their whole world was about to be turned upside down, he was preparing them for what was about to happen. There are over 365 scriptures in the Bible that say “Fear Not”, one promise for every day of the year. So the next time fear or doubt comes knocking, let your Faith go answer that door.

On my 44th birthday, almost nine years ago, I was given the results of my testing at MD Anderson, that I had Non-Hodgkin’s follicular lymphoma. The doctors stated emphatically in that appointment that I need to accept the fact that I would never be told I was cured or in remission, as there was no cure for this type of lymphoma. So when cancer came knocking at my door, I said to that doctor “with all due respect, I will do everything you tell me, because you’re a world-renowned expert, but until I hear from Doctor Jesus we’re going to beat this thing.” He said, “keep that attitude, there are people that come in here with less cancer, they give up and die as soon as we tell them they have cancer”. All the “What if’s” you can imagine of that prognosis, were screaming in my head, but I let my Faith answer the door.

Three years later that same doctor told me I was in remission. On August 7th 2013 he walked into the examination room shaking his head. Now when you’re at MD Anderson and the doctor walks in shaking his head, that is an “oh God” moment. He said he couldn’t explain it, but I was what they called a cure. I could explain it, I let my Faith answer the door. So no matter your circumstance, your “What If” situation or the trial you may be going through, if the confusion, heartache of that “What if” of life comes knocking at your door, do not answer it. Let the “Peace that passes all human understanding” and your Faith answer that door. Stand firm on the promises of “Fear Not” and that no matter happens, not only does He love you, He is with you and let Faith answer that door.
