MONTGOMERY COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE SWAT TEAM TAKES QUAD STABBING SUSPECT INTO CUSTODY

Since about 11:30 am Tuesday morning Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Splendora Police, and Montgomery County Precinct 4 Constables searched for Nathan Carlin, 36, who lived in the 23600 block of East Heritage Oaks in Porter. Deputies responded to the location after it was reported to be multiple stabbing victims. Deputies arrived to find a 61-year old white female, a 38-year old white female, a 23-year old white female, and a 9-year old white female, all of who had been stabbed. All except the child were taken to Kingwood Hospital. The child was taken to Texas Children’s in the Texas Medical Center. Carlin who was wearing a green shirt, blue shorts, and barefoot fled into the woods. The entire subdivision was sealed off by law enforcement. Drones were brought in from Montgomery County Precinct 4 Constables Office and Splendora Police Department. A DPS helicopter also assisted. By mid-afternoon the presence of police dwindled in the area, so most thought. However, deputies backed off the beaten path to see if Carlin would emerge. About 9:30 pm a 911 call came into the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office from Carlin stating he was lost in the woods. Dispatchers were able to triangulate his phone call and get a location on him which was about 200-yards south of Oak Shadows. Units responded to that area. A DPS helicopter which has just completed a pursuit at I-69 and Old Humble was overhead within 3-minutes. MCSO also responded with an ATV. It was unknown if the suspect was armed, even though he told dispatchers he was not. A decision was made to activate SWAT and have them move into the dark and thick woods to take Conlin into custody. Once on scene the SWAT Team broke up into the woods and waited. A Montgomery Couthy Supervisor then contacted Conlin by phone and with DPS overheard giving directions guided him in the command post on Oak Shadows. Moments later SWAT confirmed they had him in custody. He was walked out of the woods without incident. He was wet from sweat and his legs and feet were scratched from being barefoot in the woods. After being cleared medically by MCHD Paramedics he was transported to the Montgomery County Jail and faces at least 4-counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and possibly injury to children or the elderly.
