WEST POLK COUNTY, June 26, 2016 – At approximately 9:15 pm on June 25, 2016, a black Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by James Bradberry, 38, of Montgomery, was north-bound on FM-356 North near County Line Road when a silver Mitsubishi SUV, traveling south-bound, driven by Melissa Ann Miller, 50, of Onalaska, crossed the center line and struck Bradberry’s motorcycle. The collision was glancing as the front driver’s side fender of the SUV scraped the motorcycle. The impact knocked the front wheel off the motorcycle. Bradberry’s motorcycle left the pavement to the right and came to rest in a ditch. Miller’s vehicle came to rest in the south-bound lane. Americare Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Onalaska Volunteer Fire Department, Corporal Adam Norris with the Polk County Sheriff’s Office and Troopers Kevin Burman and Zach Lenderman with the Texas Highway Patrol. Bradberry and his passenger (wife Melissa), were both severely injured as the glancing blow caused each to lose their left leg. Both were loaded onto an ambulance and transported to a landing zone and were flown by PHI Air Medical  to Conroe Regional  Trauma Center. James Bradberry passed away a short time later. Miller was not injured. She was placed under arrest and charged with two counts of intoxication assault. Miller was suspected of being intoxicated with pills. After James Bradberry passed away, one of the charges was changed to intoxication manslaughter. All traffic on FM-356 was blocked during investigation and cleanup. A rollback wrecker from George White & Sons Wrecker Service recovered both vehicles and they’ll be stored in Onalaska.
