Just before 3:30 this morning MCHD and New Caney Fire Department were sent to the 19500 block of Moren Road off Kidd Cemetery in New Caney for a shooting. MCSO also responded. When they arrived they found a male in his mid 30’s shot on time in the leg with what appeared to be a .22. The shooter was the mans father in-law.
It appears it is an accidental shooting. Since Monday several homes on the street have been burglarized. Some more than once. Residents are nervous. Everything from cash to air tools to GPS units have been taken.
Tonight as the young man walked to his home which is close to the street he was shot by his father in-law who lives behind him, thinking it was a burglar.
Of the residents that have been burglarized it seems to have started on Memorial Day. One resident with video equipment monitoring his home caught three males on bicycles as they approached one of the homes. They are still attempting to identify them.
The young man was transported to the hospital in stable condition. The shot went completely through his leg.
Anyone with any information on the identity of the suspects is asked to call the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office or Crime Stoppers.
