Porter Fire Department just cleared the scene of a controlled burn in the Timberland Subdivision off FM 1314. The fire got out of hand and spread to pine needles and leaves as it moved toward a heavily wooded area. The owners were clearing their property of trees and brush. They had several piles , some almost 10 feet high ready for burning or already burning.
The burn ban is for limbs , tree debris not land clearing operations.
Please the winds have increased, the pine needles and grass have dried enough to burn quickly.
