STORMS THIS AFTERNOON AND SUNDAY WITH AN INCREASED FIRE THREAT SUNDAY AFTERNOON

Minor changes to the threat of severe weather today and Sunday.

Today – 1 or 2 severe storms may develop this afternoon. Cap should hold across areas along and south of Interstate 10 limiting severe threat there.
Sunday – Storms along and ahead of the cold front racing through the area. Threat increasing after 5 am. SPC has maintained an Enhanced Risk area over the eastern areas Sunday. Most of the area should see rainfall with the storms along the cold front.

Elevated fire weather threat Sunday afternoon as dry air sweeps across the area in the wake of the cold front with strong gusty westerly winds.

While the Enhanced Risk area does help delineate where the threat of severe weather is highest, severe storms remain possible across the entire area, and it will be important to have multiple ways to receive warnings regardless of where they are in Southeast Texas.
