On February 20, 2022, Montgomery County SHeriffs deputies responded to a carjacking in the 1400 block of Ashland Drive in Conroe. Initial reports indicate that two men approached a neighbor shortly after 5 p.m and asked for a ride. Once in the vehicle, one of the suspects, identified as 24-year-old(05/20/97) JoseMario Gazca-Navarette, produced a handgun, pointed it at the victim, and demanded that he take them to another location. After a short distance, the victim stopped the vehicle in front of a residence where there were a large group of people outside and quickly got out of the vehicle. The two suspects then also got out of the vehicle and fled on foot. While one suspect is still at large, Gazca-Navarette was believed to have returned to his residence on Ashland Drive. Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Crisis Negotiators, SWAT, and Homicide/Violent Crime Units were dispatched to assist with the scene. After several hours of unsuccessful attempts to establish communications with Gazca-Navarette, a search warrant was executed on the residence. Despite the efforts of those involved, Gazca-Navarette was not found in the residence and is still at large. JoseMario Gazca-Navarette is considered armed and dangerous.
