THREE AIR MEDICAL HELICOPTERS REQUIRED ON HIGHWAY 75 HEAD-ON FATAL CRASH

Just before 4 pm, Walker County dispatchers received a call of a head-on crash on Highway 75 just north of the City of New Waverly. New Waverly, North Montgomery, and Phelps Fire units arrived on the scene to find both a Chevrolet pickup and a Chevrolet Malibu off the road, both with heavy front-end damage. The front seat passenger was deceased. The driver of the Malibu was flown by Air Medical, and two children in the vehicle were transported in critical condition to HCA Conroe. In the pickup, the driver was flown along with the front seat passenger who was pregnant. An adult and a child in the back seat were transported in critical condition to HCA Conroe. DPS investigated the crash. Witnesses say the pickup was traveling south on Highway 75 when the left rear tire blew out causing the truck to cross the center line hitting the Malibu head-on. Highway 75 reopened just after 7 pm.
