WOMAN LOSES CONTROL OF VAN AT LOCATION OF PREVIOUS FATAL CRASHES

Charlene Linton, 47 of Porter was southbound on FM 1485 just north of FM 2090 just after 4:15a.m. Tuesday morning when her vehicle left the roadway , Linton told Troopers she had been southbound when something happened with her right tire. She went off the roadway at the same location of several fatal crashes in the past. However, her 2000 Chevrolet cargo van missed the utility pole, crossed FM 1485 and struck a tree. Linton was uninjured in the crash.

Caney Creek Fire Department and MCHD was dispatched to the reported major accident involving three cars at FM 1485 and FM 2090. That location quickly changed to the crash site which is approximately one mile north of that intersection.

A passerby saw the crash and two vehicles which stopped and determined all three were involved without stopping.

More and more every day people with cell phones pass a vehicle in distress or involved in a minor crash and without stopping dial 911 to report a major accident. Unlike back in the 70’s and early 80’s where it happened so often with drivers having CB radios and many calls were not taken seriously. With 911 calls they must  all be responded to as with the information that is given.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in this case.

Linton also had a Chihuahua in the vehicle with her which ran off and is still missing.
