About 6:45pm Sunday as heavy rains and hail moved through the Spring, Woodlands and Tomball area Cindy Schlesener was driving her GMC southbound on Rhodes Road just south of FM 2920 when she encountered a curve. Her vehicle slid off the road and into a six foot bar ditch. SHe was trapped in her vehicle under water. Schlesener she paniced but was able to undo her seatbelt. She found a pocket of air and that’s when she said she heard what sounded like her radio. Realizing the electronics were still on in the vehicle she tried her electric window switch. To her amazement the window worked and she was able to basically swim out the window. Once out of the vehicle several passerbys stopped and helped her out of the ditch. Harris County Precinct 4 Deputy Constables were first on the scene in the pouring down rain. Thinking someone was still in the vehicle they first went to the vehicle before even thinking of raingear. One deputy was preparing to go in to attempt a rescue when he learned she was out and was the only occupant. suffered facial trauma and was treated by both Cypress Creek EMS and Spring Fire Department. Tammy’s Towing was able to right the vehicle and pull it out of the water.
Schlesener said it just wasn’t her time
