Just after 5pm and five hours from closing the Marble Slab Creamery at North Loop 336 and Interstate 45 employee’s Claudia Hernandez and Mario Herrera had an experience like never before. As they waited on three customers near the rear of the store an SUV drove through the front door. Neither the female driver with several children in the vehicle were injured but the store was severely damaged.
The vehicle equipped with handicap controls was in the front of the building when the female pushed the accelerator control instead of the brake crashing into the business.
Conroe Fire Department responded and disconnected the electric and were able to stop the flow of water from broken pipes.
Claudia Hernandez was waiting on her customer when she said she thought it was smoke after the loud noise and then saw the yogurt machine fall forward before she realized what had happened.
