Wednesday night, Thanksgiving Eve many restaurants were closing early. Joe Haliti with Joe’s Italian Restaurant knew this. Joe partnered with Montgomery County County Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace, Wayne Mack, and Montgomery County Treasurer Melanie P. Bush to provide 1000 hot meals to teachers, health workers, and first responders and veterans. Using the Conroe Symphony parking lot at 1500 N. Frazier, the trio along with several other officeholders and candidates for office and many volunteers spent several hours handing out meals and delivering meals to police departments, hospital emergency rooms, and fire stations. Since March of 2020 when the pandemic really got hold Joe has served over 65,000 meals to first responders and health care workers. His goal by the end of the year is 70,000.
