California Drug Traffickers Stopped in East Montgomery County

On Tuesday, September 26th just before 8:30pm, Pct. 4 deputies conducted a traffic stop on a white Ford F250 in the area of Highway 59 and Roman Forest Blvd in New Caney, TX.  The vehicle was occupied by 2 individuals, one male and one female, both from California.  Both individuals had stories as to their destinations that contradicted each other, raising the deputy’s suspicion that something illegal may be going on; deputies also noted that a strong odor of marijuana was coming from inside the vehicle.

As deputies furthered their investigation, they located 5.7 lbs. of marijuana in 5, vacuum sealed bags carrying a street value of around $25,000. Also in the vehicle, deputies located a clear bag containing 7.6 grams of methamphetamine, carrying a street value of almost $400.  Both subjects were placed in handcuff restraints and placed in the rear of patrol vehicles.

As deputies were wrapping up the investigation, the male subject somehow slipped out of the handcuff restraints and leaped through the rear side window of the patrol vehicle that was rolled down approximately ½ way for ventilation.  A struggle ensued as the male broke free from deputies and ran towards the busy highway.  Thanks to the help of a nearby tow truck driver, the male was once again restrained in handcuffs and placed in the rear of the patrol vehicle.
