FAMILY RETURNS HOME TO FIND HOUSE ON FIRE

Virginia Peden and her friend has just left their Deep Woods home off Old Houston to run some errands and get some lunch. As they returned home they saw smoke coming from their home. The fire department was immediately called and they attempted to enter the rear of the home to rescue their dogs inside which they were successful at doing.
New Caney Fire Department along with River Plantation Fire Department responded. Just as fire crews arrived fire erupted out of the front windows. It was quickly brought under control. Even though there was smoke damage throughout the home the fire damage was confined to one front room.
Roland Morgan of the Montgomery County Fire Marshal’s Office believes the fire started in the window air conditioning unit in that room. Burning plastic dropped down to the couch igniting it and the remainder of the room.
The only injury was the home owner who was attempting to contain his dogs as firefighters arrived was severely scratched as the two dogs got into a disagreement.
