SUSPECT ON THE RUN AFTER STEALING CAR

Just before 5 pm Tuesday a female walked onto the Big Tex Trailer property on US 59 and got into a PT Cruiser parked there and sped off. Employees attempted to stop her before she was able to get away but failed. Moments later the vehicle owners wife spotted the vehicle and gave chase while on the phone with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office. They traveled to FM 1485 to Oak Grove, through the neighborhoods and back to FM 1485. Then to SH 242 and east toward US 59. When the driver of the stolen vehicle turned north on Firetower Road a Montgomery County Sheriff’s Deputy spotted her and gave pursuit. They traveled north on Firetower. As they approached FM 2090 the female never slowed as she ran the stop sign almost hitting several vehicles on FM 2090 as traffic was quite heavy. The vehicle actually went airborne through the intersection. She then slowed and jumped out as the vehicle was still in motion and fled into the woods on Jake Goodrum Road. Montgomery Couty Sheriff’s Office deployed a K-9 which tracked her until the track was lost in the saturated area. A DPS helicopter assisted but was unable to locate her. The woman was identified as a white female, short, with a short cropped haircut, very thin with facial sores. It is believed she came onto the property from a nearby drug rehab on US 59. The vehicle suffered minor damage.
