Traffic Stop Yields Two Arrests On Warrants

On January 18, 2017 around 5:15 p.m. , Captain Peter Sparta and Constable Sam Houston of the San Jacinto Pct. 3 Constable’s Office were patrolling on FM 945 South and Moody Rd in San Jacinto County where they saw a white 2008 Acura 4 door car with an unreadable Texas temporary tag. Constable Sam Houston initiated a traffic stop and made contact with driver identified as Mr. Michael Koronka. Constable Houston told Koronka to exit the vehicle and detained Koronka due to prior knowledge of an active warrant in Liberty County for Criminal Non Support. Captain Sparta then approached the passenger, Dana Baugh.

San Jacinto County Dispatch said Baugh also had an active warrant out of San Jacinto County for Theft. She was placed in wrist restraints and was placed under arrest for her active warrant. While doing an inventory on the vehicle Captain Sparta saw several boxes containing jewelry in the trunk of the vehicle, Baugh stated the jewelry belong to a friend of hers and did not belong to her. Constable Houston told Defendant Baugh was a suspect in a theft case involving jewelry. Constable Houston contacted Detectives of the San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Office and described a few pieces of the jewelry. Detectives requested that the items of jewelry be brought in as evidence.

Around 6:10 p.m., a deputy with the San Jacinto County Sheriff’s office arrived on scene where they took Defendant Baugh into custody and transported her to the San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Office without incident.
Constable Houston transported Defendant Koronka to Love’s truck stop to meet with Liberty County Sheriff’s Office without incident.
