UPDATE ON 18-WHEELER PURSUIT

Harris County Sheriff’s Office District 4 patrol deputies arrested and charged 37-year old Juan Manuel Rodriguez-Jimenez (11-13-80), after he led deputies on a 37 mile chase over west Harris County.

On Monday, October 29, 2018, an off-duty HCSO deputy was traveling on Keith Harrow Blvd and Queenstown Blvd, when he observed Jimenez driving a late model Prostar tractor truck.

The truck was drifting over the lanes of the road and was failing to stay in a single lane of traffic.

The deputy called dispatch and explained he was following the vehicle.

A marked Sheriff’s Office unit caught up to Jimenez and attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but he accelerated and began to flee.

Jimenez then began driving through residential neighborhoods in and around the Highway 6 and Little York area, in order to evade the deputies pursuing him.

He then drove north on State Highway 6 towards Highway 290, entering the freeway and exiting Barker Cypress road.

Jimenez led deputies into the Coles Crossing subdivision and drove over curbs and yards, all while attempting to elude deputies.

He circled back onto Barker Cypress road.

A deputy was able to successfully deploy Stop Sticks at the intersection of West Road and Barker Cypress, and the trucks front wheels were disabled.

Numerous marked units attempted to slow and stop Jimenez, but he would swerve towards them in an effort to strike their vehicles.

The truck came to a stop in the 30600 blocks of Interstate 10 west and Igloo road in Waller County after nearly an hour of pursuing Jimenez.

A 32-year old female and two juveniles, ages 8 and 1 were detained by personnel but released.

Jimenez is now facing felony evading in a motor vehicle and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, for using the truck to strike a deputies vehicle during the pursuit.

A charge of felony driving while intoxicated with a child passenger is pending for evidence results.
