At 10 p.m. Sunday night, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to an attempted sexual assault in the 8000 block of Research Forest. Deputies arrived and met with the woman who reported the incident. Earlier that night, she had been returning to her apartment after walking her dog when a Hispanic male approached her from behind. He grabbed her and started to fondle her before trying to pull her backwards into the apartment.
The woman screamed and was able to break away.
From her description, one of the deputies responding to the scene recognized the suspect 22 year-old Roberto Mateo, who police had questioned earlier. Mateo was found in his apartment and arrested.
Mateo is in the Montgomery County Jail on a bond of $200,000. He is charged with aggravated kidnapping.
