Conroe Police Department is investigating a fatal accident close to midnight Friday. According to Sgt. Bob Barry with the Conroe Police Department Lance Robert Sparks, age 29 of Willis was driving northbound on Interstate 45 between North Loop 336 and FM 3083 when his friend Brian Lee Purselley, age 24 also of Willis either jumped or fell out of Sparks 2003 Dodge Pickup.
Sparks exited the freeway , called Purselley’s family and then went back around to see if he could find his friend. He was unsuccessful.
When Purselley’s family arrived they once again attempted to locate him at which time they found him on the shoulder of the freeway. Montgomery County EMS was called along with Conroe Fire Department.
Purselley was pronounced dead on the scene.
Vehicles on the northbound feeder of the freeway were forced to have to back up to the Kroger Shopping Center to exit the one lane road which was under construction. The feeded was closed for almost two and one half hours However the freeway remained open.
Conroe Police Department requested the pickup be taken to the Conroe Police Department Crime Lab by IH-45 Wrecker for further investigation.
